Chocolate covered strawberries have been around for a long time and they are quite good. But,
gourmet chocolate
covered strawberries have taken this great taste to a whole new level. The popularity of gourmet chocolate covered
strawberries has grown dramatically in recent years perhaps largely due to the fact that they are so easy to make at home.
In fact, homemade gourmet chocolate covered strawberries are so easy to make that even small children can help out.
Although, it should be noted that the best gourmet chocolate covered strawberries are those done by professionals.
The first step in making gourmet chocolate covered strawberries is to pick a gourmet chocolate that you like. It does not
really matter if the gourmet chocolate is sweet chocolate, semi-sweet chocolate, bitter sweet chocolate, milk chocolate,
dark chocolate or even white chocolate. It really only matters that you like the taste because strawberries go very well
with all types of gourmet chocolates. Also, do not be afraid to experiment with mixing two or three different types of
gourmet chocolate together. This is done after you melt the gourmet chocolate and is covered in more detail later in this
article. If possible, order gourmet chocolate chips. They are the easiest to melt.
After you have selected the gourmet chocolates you would like to use, you will also need some strawberries. Six ounces
of gourmet chocolate will be enough to make about two dozen good sized gourmet chocolate covered strawberries. Obviously,
you will want to pick the freshest strawberries possible. If you live near a strawberry field, you may want to go
hand pick the strawberries. This can be a fun outdoor activity.
To begin with, rinse the strawberries and make sure they are thoroughly drained. Afterwards, chill the strawberries
for 15 to 20 minutes then line a baking sheet with wax paper or aluminum foil. (Wax paper works best.)
Now, it is time to melt the gourmet chocolate. If you did not get gourmet chocolate chips, you will want to chop the
gourmet chocolate into small pieces. There are a number of ways to melt gourmet chocolate. The best and easiest way
is to use a double boiler or chocolate melter.
If you do not have a double boiler or chocolate melter, you may also simply place the chocolate chips into a Ziploc
bag and place the bag into very hot water (not boiling).. Make sure the bag is sealed well and gently move it back and forth
in the water until the chocolate is completely melted.
